
Until the beginning of the
year, San Francisco-based Kiwi
blogger Andy Lark was global vice president of communications at
Sun Microsystems, a position he had held for three years, and was also a member of the company’s leadership team. He has over 17 years’ experience in marketing, sales and communications, serves as an adviser to start-ups and venture capital firms and sits on a number of advisory boards. In 2003, the New Zealand government presented him with the inaugural ‘World Class New Zealander’
award for his contributions to the New Zealand economy. Lark is widely
acknowledged to have been one of the first corporate bloggers, and has said: “Not every company needs to have a blog, but every company needs to be involved in blogging.” He
tracks the blogosphere’s flipside, and is also an outspoken critic of ‘premium content’ web subscription models such as the one now in operation at the
New Zealand Herald. Recently he’s been involved in the launch of a new
website,
blog and
product for IT company LogLogic. We caught up with Andy for a virtual café Americano and tried to figure out how he manages to juggle his many interests.
