With the return of Led Zeppelin for a concert in London yesterday, it’s time to look again at what is perhaps, just perhaps, the best cover version of any song ever.
Yeah - I remember The Rolf Harris Show as regular Saturday night diversion for us poor stimulus-starved bastards, back in the early 70s.
He had a group of singer/dancers called The Young Generation, who would romp around and sit adoringly at Rolf's feet like a bunch of moist-eyed puppies. I guess this was to give him street cred with the yunksters!
Dear God! What is he famous for? Can't sing, can't paint, lacks any discernable talent other than self-promotion.

The STairway to Heaven/Gilligan's Island mashup gives it a run for its money.
Genius. I still think a party with a 'Come as Rolf Harris' theme would be a winner.
Peter Urlich is way ahead of you, Laughykate. He's been rocking the Rolf look for years: http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/410965/425309
Brilliant. Love his inter-chorus asides.
At the time this came out someone pointed out Harris hadn't actually finished the song and made some suggestions about how the rest might go.
Only bit I recall went something like:
'And as we wind on down the road,
diddle-dum diddle-dum diddle diddle diddle-dum ...'

Still he did invent the wobble board.
